Spanning over 400 acres, Ascarate Park
is the largest public-use recreational area
in the county. The park includes a 48-acre
lake where you can rent canoes or pedal
boats or fish for perch, bass, trout, catfish,
blue gill, and more. A 1.4-mile jogging-walking path circles the lake, and the park
also has tennis, basketball, handball, and
sand volleyball courts as well as baseball and
soccer fields. A fully equipped aquatic center
with an outdoor Olympic-size pool and
smaller kiddie pool is available along with
playgrounds and a picnic area. Golfers will
want to check out the 18-hole, 72-par golf
course and the nine-hole executive course
called the Delta 9.
